Floral prints and motifs have long been a staple of spring fashion, symbolising renewal and vibrancy. However, this year the quintessential florals are taking a more dynamic turn with fresh styling approaches, bold colour palettes, and innovative layering techniques. According to Deepika Bhardwaj, Design Head at Latin Quarters, wearing florals the same way every season can feel predictable and to keep the trend relevant and modern he shares some innovative ideas for the season.
Revamping florals: Key styling approaches
The key to making them look fresh is to mix things up with layering, textures, and unexpected accessories. Bhardwaj mentions, “The unpredictable spring weather calls for layering, making it a great opportunity to give floral outfits a fresh twist. Instead of the usual sundress, try combining a midi slit skirt with a white shirt adorned with mini heart prints. Another elegant combination is a long floral skirt paired with a simple tube top and layered under a soft, light-colored cardigan. For cooler days, a turtleneck sweater styled with a midi floral skirt and Chelsea boots adds effortless sophistication.”

One of the season’s standout pieces is the floral tube dress with criss-cross backs, offering a flirty yet polished aesthetic. Corset tops are also making a statement, creating the perfect balance of femininity and versatility. For a refined yet easygoing look, pair a floral corset top with loose linen trousers. Alternatively, embrace the street-style trend by teaming it with a satin skirt and sneakers.

Spring/Summer 2025 is moving away from traditional garden prints and into a realm of earthy, sun-washed hues. Speaking about the latest innovation in colour palettes, Bhardwaj points out, “This season’s florals are set against warm terracottas, coral blush, sage green, and ochre, balanced by cool pastels like powder blue and soft lilac. Another major trend is monochrome florals, where single-shade prints create a more sophisticated and versatile effect."

Florals are more versatile than ever, and incorporating unexpected elements can add a refreshing twist. A floral midi skirt paired with a structured blazer or crisp white shirt offers the perfect blend of soft and sharp aesthetics. For a bolder approach, toughen up a delicate floral dress with chunky lug-sole combat boots, adding both edge and practicality.
Florals will always be in, but how you wear them is what makes them exciting, believes Bhardwaj as she adds, “Mixing prints is another stylish approach and pairing florals with gingham or polka dots in complementary colours gives a playful yet polished feel. If you prefer a minimalist touch, opt for floral separates like a crop top or a bralette, paired with solid-toned wide-leg pants or high- waisted shorts. Accessories can also take florals in a new direction. A metallic belt, chunky earrings, or even an unexpected shoe choice like edgy boots or sporty sneakers can add just the right amount of contrast."
