The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has started the registration process for RRB Technician Recruitment 2025. A total of 6238 vacancies have been announced across two categories Technician Grade-I Signal and Technician Grade-III. Interested candidates can apply online at www.rrbapply.gov.in from 28 June 2025. The last date to submit the application is 28 July 2025.
According to the notification, 183 posts are available for Technician Grade-I Signal, which is a Level-5 post. The remaining 6055 posts are for Technician Grade-III, which falls under Level-2. Applicants must choose only one RRB and one pay level while applying. If a candidate applies to more than one RRB under the same pay level, all their applications will be rejected.
For Technician Grade-I Signal, candidates must have a B.Sc degree (in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, or Instrumentation) or BE/B.Tech or a three-year engineering diploma in the relevant field. For Technician Grade-III, the eligibility requirement is Class 10 along with an ITI certificate in the relevant trade. For some Technician Grade-III (S&T) posts, Class 12 with Physics and Maths is also accepted.
The age limit for Technician Grade-I applicants is 18 to 33 years, while for Technician Grade-III, it is 18 to 30 years. Age relaxation of five years is applicable for SC/ST candidates and three years for OBC candidates.
The selection process includes a computer-based test (CBT), a medical test and document verification. This year, like the previous recruitment drive in 2018, there will be only one stage CBT for technician posts, unlike the two-stage process held earlier.
The CBT for Technician Grade-I will consist of 100 questions to be attempted in 90 minutes. The paper will include questions on General Awareness (10), General Intelligence and Reasoning (15), Basics of Computers and Applications (20), Mathematics (20) and Basic Science and Engineering (35). Each question carries one mark. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General, 30% for OBC and SC, and 25% for ST candidates.
The CBT for Technician Grade-III will also have 100 questions in 90 minutes, with sections including General Awareness (10), General Intelligence and Reasoning (25), Mathematics (25), and General Science (40). The same qualifying marks apply.
There will be negative marking in both exams. One-third of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
The application fee is Rs 500 for candidates belonging to General, OBC and EWS categories. However, Rs 400 will be refunded to those who appear for the CBT. For SC, ST, women, economically backward classes and persons with disabilities, the fee is Rs 250, which will be fully refunded after attending the exam.
Candidates are advised to read the official notification carefully before applying and ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.
