RRB Group D Exam Date 2025 Released

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have announced the revised examination dates for the RRB Group D (CEN 08/2024) recruitment drive. The Computer-Based Test (CBT) is now scheduled to be conducted from November 27, 2025, to January 16, 2026.

The recruitment initiative aims to fill 32,438 Level 1 posts across various departments of the Indian Railways, including popular roles like Track Maintainer, Pointsman, and Assistant Loco Shed.

Key Dates and Schedule

Prospective candidates must mark their calendars with the following critical deadlines released by the RRBs:

  • Exam City & Shift Intimation Slip: November 19, 2025 (Released on all regional RRB websites)
  • RRB Group D Admit Card 2025: To be released approximately four days before the exam date.
  • CBT Exam Dates: November 27, 2025, to January 16, 2026.

Exam to be Held in 200+ Cities

With a massive 1.08 crore applicants registered for this recruitment, the RRB is organizing the examination on an enormous scale. To accommodate all candidates, the CBT will be administered over multiple days in more than 200 cities across India.

As per prevailing trends, the exam is expected to be held in three shifts per day. The specific shift timings and reporting time will be clearly detailed on the city intimation slip and admit card.

RRB Group D Vacancies 2025

The 32,438 vacancies are distributed across various key operational posts. Here is a breakdown of some major categories:

  • Track Maintainer Grade-IV: 13,187 Vacancies
  • Pointsman-B: 5,058 Vacancies
  • Assistant (C&W): 2,587 Vacancies
  • Assistant (S&T): 2,012 Vacancies
  • Assistant TL & AC: 1,041 Vacancies
  • Assistant TRD: 1,381 Vacancies
  • Assistant Loco Shed (Electrical): 950 Vacancies
  • Assistant (Workshop) Mechanical: 3,077 Vacancies
RRB Group D 2025 Selection Process

The selection of candidates for Group D posts is a multi-stage process. Only those who successfully clear all the following stages will receive an appointment letter:

Computer-Based Test (CBT): The first and foremost stage, a 100-mark objective test covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. The exam duration is 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates). Note: There is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each incorrect answer.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be called for the PET, which involves physical tasks like running. The criteria differ for male and female candidates. Candidates with 40% or more disability are exempt from this test.

Document Verification (DV): Original documents and certificates must be presented for verification to confirm eligibility.

Medical Examination: The final stage involves a medical check-up to ensure candidates meet the required physical and health standards for the Railway job.
