Fat loss requires a well-regulated diet that is nutrient-dense, filling, and sustainable. When it comes to picking healthy foods, what is marketed as healthy may not necessarily be good for you. This is because you may not realise you are overeating them or not structure them in a way that can help.
Fitness coach Bobby took to his Instagram account and explained in his recent post how eating healthy foods can also stall fat loss. “Eating healthy” and “losing fat” aren’t always the same thing. Some foods are healthy but still make fat loss harder if they’re not structured well. Understanding the difference changes everything,” he said.
Sharing examples of some of his clients, Bobby shared that they feel frustrated and claim they eat healthy, but the scale doesn’t move. However, he noted how the foods they have been consuming aren't bad, but “incredibly easy to overeat.”
Here’s some foods Bobby mentioned that do more harm than good. These include:
Store-bought granola is high in added sugar, calories, and unhealthy fats. Even a small serving size can cause blood sugar spikes.
Considered healthy, it is easy to overconsume avocado toast, which means more calories and fats and very little protein. That’s something most people don’t calculate.
While you may not realise it, excessive dressing carries its own danger. It can be calorie-dense and easy to overconsume.
Most people love smoothies, but they lack the fibre of whole foods, and are high in calories and sugar. Because they’re not filling, you may end up drinking more than you should.
Bobby added, “Now all of the foods are marketed as healthy, but healthy doesn’t mean that it’s fat-loss friendly. Now the issue is not that those foods are bad. The issue is that most of them are low in protein and very easy to overeat calories with it.”

“So you end up what you think you’re eating a full day of healthy food, but it’s not in a structured way that supports your fat loss goal. That’s why I focus so much on protein and meal structure. Because when you do that, fat loss becomes much easier. It’s not about eating less but eating smarter,” he concluded.
