Assamese singer Zubeen Garg's funeral services have begun after a second post-mortem was conducted on Tuesday morning ahead of his cremation.
The latest reports now suggest that Zubeen Garg's younger sister, Palmee Borthakur, will perform the last rites of the veteran singer. The cremation will be held at the crematorium in Kamarkuchi, Sonapur.
Thousands of grieving fans have been spotted on the streets chanting, ‘Joi Zubeen Da’ and outside the cremation ground to bid an emotional farewell and catch the last glimpse of Zubeen Garg.

Police personnel will be the pallbearers of the coffin after it is brought out of the vehicle at the cremation site in Kamarkuchi.
The state has declared a dry day, while the Meghalaya government has also said that all wine shops will remain closed on its side of the route through which Zubeen's cortege will pass.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, and others participated in the last rites of the late singer Zubeen Garg.
Besides the CM, Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Ashutosh Kumar, assembly speaker Biswajit Daimary, Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia, and representatives of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) will attend the cremation.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Monday that the state government agreed to conduct a second post-mortem after receiving requests from specific groups within the state, despite his personal disapproval of the idea.
The post-mortem was conducted at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) by doctors of the hospital, along with doctors from AIIMS-Guwahati.
He also said that the post-mortem report “cannot be better than Singapore than Guwahati”.
He tweeted, “As a Zubeen fan, personally I didn’t endorse the idea of a second post mortem on his body. But as Chief Minister, people’s sentiment hold more weight than my opinion. Hence we have consented to cut open his body and do a second post mortem.”
Zubeen Garg tragically died on Friday during a scuba diving accident.
