Veteran actress Zeenat Amaan shares how she choked at a pill and her son came to her rescue

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman, known for her candid and thoughtful posts on Instagram, recently shared a frightening experience with her followers. She explained having a near death experience and how her son, Zahaan helped her.

On Tuesday, she described that she choked on her blood pressure medication, which became lodged in her throat, causing difficulty in breathing. Further, she explained how she initially called her son, Zahaan Khan, for help, before reaching out to a doctor for guidance.

Despite the terrifying situation, Zeenat took a moment to reflect on the incident, using it as an opportunity to impart a valuable life lesson about resilience, seeking help when needed, and the importance of staying calm in moments of crisis.

Her followers praised her for turning such a scary moment into a teaching moment.

On January 21, Zeenat Aman was at a studio in Andheri East for a shoot. After returning home, she took care of her pet dog Lily and followed her evening routine. However, when she took her blood pressure medication, it got stuck in her throat, causing breathing difficulties.

Zeenat, 73 began her note with, "At the risk of sounding like an old lady suffocating on her tablets, allow me to share with you what happened last night,"

Explaining the further suffering, she stated, "I popped the pill into my mouth, took a sip of water, and then felt my breath catch. There it was, this little pill lodged in my throat. Too far down to regurgitate and too far up to swallow. I could still breathe, but it was restricted. I took another drink of water, and then another and another, until the glass was empty but the pill remained stuck."

She explained that she was at home with her dog and five cats when panic set in. Unable to reach her doctor, she called her son, Zahaan Khan, who quickly rushed to her side, Zeenat mentioned, "Zahaan landed up, we finally got through to the doctor who said it would dissolve in time, and I spent the next few hours sipping warm water and waiting."

Using the pill as a metaphor for life's challenges, she shared an important lesson she had learned, "There will always be difficult times in one’s life that demands less action and more patience. The pill is a metaphor for that situation. It was all I could think about, it’s discomfort was intense, I sought solutions from others, but ultimately all I could do was practice patience and control over my own fears. And then when it dissolved - it was good for me," she said.

Zeenat went on to say, "Sometimes it’s important to tackle an issue head-on. To confront, challenge, change. But sometimes a situation requires those other softer acts of patience, restraint and equanimity"

Zeenat Aman's Instagram is a mix of loving stories, nostalgic photos, and valuable life lessons, offering guidance to make everyday challenges easier to handle.
