After months of maintaining silence amid speculation surrounding his personal life, Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally addressed both his divorce from Dhanashree Verma and his rumoured relationship with RJ Mahavash.

In a candid conversation on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Yuzi set the record straight, denying any current romantic involvement and speaking openly about the toll the public scrutiny has taken on both him and Mahavash.

Affectionately known as Chahal, who has largely kept his private life out of the limelight, acknowledged that gossip and online chatter escalated soon after his separation.

When asked about his alleged link-up with Mahavash, he firmly denied the rumours. “No, there’s nothing. People can think whatever they want to think," he said.

He elaborated on how each outing or casual interaction with Mahavash was misconstrued. Even when they were surrounded by friends at events such as the Champions Trophy or a Christmas gathering, the internet found ways to paint an alternative narrative.

“We had a Christmas dinner with five people, but the photo was cropped to make it look like just the two of us were on a dinner date,” he revealed.

Recalling another moment of unwarranted attention, Chahal spoke of a viral video in which Mahavash had simply given him a lift to the airport. “I was just fixing my hair, and people started saying all sorts of cheap things. That really hurt me,” he admitted.

Chahal also responded to the harsh criticism Mahavash received, with some online users labelling her a ‘homewrecker’. The cricketer expressed deep regret over the backlash she faced. “Even though she (Mahavash) clarified it, it was very hard for her. She was called a homewrecker, and people said really nasty things. I felt terrible.”

During the interview, Chahal also revealed that he battled depression for nearly four to five months.

Throughout that difficult period, Mahavash and a small circle of close friends supported him unconditionally, becoming a vital part of his recovery.
