Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal granted divorce

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and wife Dhanashree are officially divorced. The two were granted divorce with mutual consent on March 20, 2025.

The confirmation came from Dhanashree’s lawyer, following their appearance at the Bandra family court for the final settlement discussions. After a prolonged and strenuous legal process, the court has officially granted the couple a divorce.

As per a video shared by a paparazzi on Instagram, Dhanashree's lawyer confirmed the couple's divorce stating, "This is a court matter. The divorce has been granted by mutual consent."

A day after the Bombay High Court directed the family court to hear their divorce case on March 20, Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma arrived separately at the court. Both were seen wearing masks to maintain privacy and avoid being photographed.

This decision comes after the Mumbai High Court intervened to set the alimony amount Chahal must pay and instructed both parties to finalize their divorce in family court on Wednesday. While Chahal agreed to a settlement of Rs 4.75 crore, he had only paid Rs 2.37 crore by the time of the February hearing, leading to further legal proceedings.

Yuzvendra's lawyer also confirmed their divorce in a statement to the media. In a video shared by ANI, he said, "Dono parties ka divorce hogaya hai. Dono parties ne jo joint petition file ki thi mutual consent ke liye woh court ne accept karliya hai. The parties are no longer husband and wife."

Yuzvendra and Dhanashree have been living separately for over two and a half years. The estranged couple had asked the court to allow them divorce without the six-month cooling-off period as required by section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act.

The couple had cited 'compatibility issues' as the primary reason for their divorce. Yuzvendra and Dhanashree tied the knot in December 2020 and got separated in June 2022. They had filed a petition to waive the six month cooling-off period on February 5, 2025.
