Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri recently shared a picture of a packed theatre with families with kids at a screening of his latest release, The Bengal Files. However, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee called out the filmmaker for allowing the kids to watch the film despite The Bengal Files being certified strictly for adults by Indian authorities.
Vivek’s latest post has sparked debate about whether Indian movie theatres are adhering to age restrictions. He took to his Instagram and shared a picture of the audience watching the movie in a theatre. He penned in the caption, “One picture says it all.”
He commented, “Are you seriously making children watch an Adult rated film? This should be a crime. You are traumatising their childhood by showing them so much blood, gore and violence."
For the unversed, the Central Board of Film Certification has provided The Bengal Files ‘A’ certificate, restricting viewership to adults aged 18 and over.
The film features an ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi in prominent roles, with Darshan Kumar and Simrat Kaur also playing key parts. The other cast includes Saswata Chatterjee, Namashi Chakraborty, Rajesh Khera, Puneet Issar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sourav Das, and Mohan Kapur.
