Yami Gautam Dhar, a celebrated actress, recently opened about her experiences with motherhood and the personal choices she has made for her son, Vedavid. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Yami discussed how her life has transformed since welcoming her child with filmmaker Aditya Dhar in May 2024. As she prepares for the release of her latest Netflix film, Dhoom Dhaam, the actress shared intimate details about this new chapter in her life.
Reflecting on the profound changes motherhood brings, Yami remarked, “I think when you become a mother, I’m sure that stands true for both the parents, but especially a mother, your whole life changes in every possible way your life can change.” She elaborated on the unpredictability of this journey, admitting, “However you’ve been, whatever work you’ve done—that on one side, and this is a totally different phase of yourself, which you are also never prepared for.” Yami’s heartfelt words shed light on the joys and vulnerabilities that accompany motherhood. “Of course, you’re so happy, you’re on top of the world, this is the biggest blessing and this is so new to you, and you’re so vulnerable, because this is also the most important thing, something which you only have to learn by yourself, nobody teaches you,” she confessed.
Yami also emphasized the emotional complexity of parenting. “You’re nervous, there’s so many things, there’s so many factors and at the end of the day, just those big eyes staring at you and just wanting love, and that’s it!” Her candid words reveal the raw emotions and the simplicity of her motherly love. “I think I can just be there and sitting there for hours and do nothing, if it was really up to me!” she shared, expressing how she treasures the simple moments with her son.
A significant revelation during the interview was Yami and Aditya’s decision to keep their son away from the public eye. Addressing this choice, Yami said, “You won’t see him. I mean, that’s a very personal choice which Aditya and I have taken.” Explaining further, she added, “I think a child deserves a childhood which every other child needs to have. It has a psychological impact and we want him to just enjoy this life, to enjoy this blessing.” By shielding Vedavid from the media glare, Yami hopes to provide him with a normal and fulfilling childhood, free from the pressures of the limelight.
The interview also highlighted Yami’s career endeavors post-motherhood. She took a brief hiatus from films to focus on her family and health after Vedavid’s birth. Her upcoming film, Dhoom Dhaam, directed by Rishab Seth and co-starring Pratik Gandhi, narrates an intriguing tale of newlyweds navigating unexpected challenges during a fateful evening.
Yami Gautam Dhar’s journey as a mother and an artist underscores her commitment to balancing her personal and professional life. Through her thoughtful choices, she exemplifies how motherhood can transform one’s perspective, bringing unparalleled joy and responsibility.
