Family

Mukul Dev was born in Delhi on November 30, 1970, into a family steeped in the arts and public service. He was the older brother of famous actor Rahul Dev and the son of a former police commissioner. The family suffered a great loss in 2019 when their father died at the age of 91.

In his personal life, Mukul was previously wed to Shilpa Dev; the two of them have a daughter named Siya Dev. But in 2024, their marriage ended. Sidhant Dev, the son of Mukul's brother Rahul, also had Mukul as an uncle.

The heartbreaking news of Mukul’s passing was shared by Rahul Dev through an emotional post on Instagram on Saturday. He also informed followers that Mukul’s last rites would be conducted in Delhi on May 24 at 5 p.m., allowing friends, fans, and loved ones to pay their final respects.

Career

Mukul Dev made a name for himself on Indian television and gained a solid following in Punjabi and Hindi cinema. He demonstrated a remarkable range as an actor over the course of a career that lasted over two decades. Among his notable roles in films are those in Wajood (1998), Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena (2005), and Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011).

He also played a significant role in Omerta (2018), a project where he contributed not just as an actor but also as the screenplay writer, highlighting his multifaceted talent.
