Who is Ravi Dubey? Know everything about famous TV actor, producer who is playing Lakshman in Ramayana

Ravi Dubey, a versatile actor known for his wide-ranging work in Indian television, is stepping into a landmark role as Lakshman in the highly anticipated film Ramayana. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, the mythological epic also stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravan.

Ravi Dubey’s casting marks a major leap in his career, earning both fanfare and admiration—especially after a behind-the-scenes moment of Ranbir Kapoor embracing him went viral.

Born on December 23, 1983, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Ravi Dubey's early life was far from the limelight. After moving to Delhi and later Mumbai, he earned a degree in Telecom Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology.

However, destiny had other plans. While still in college, Dubey began modeling, featuring in over 40 commercial advertisements, which paved the way for his acting career.

His television debut came in 2006 with Stree Teri Kahani on DD National, produced by the legendary Dilip Kumar and Saira Bano. Over the years, he appeared in shows like Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar, Ranbir Rano, 12/24 Karol Bagh, and Saas Bina Sasural.

However, it was the 2014 drama Jamai Raja that catapulted him to household fame, establishing him as a leading face on Indian TV.

Ravi Dubey’s versatility extended to reality TV as well. He competed in shows like Comedy Circus, Nach Baliye 5, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Lip Sync Battle, impressing audiences with his charisma. As a host, he brought energy to platforms like India’s Dancing Superstar, Sabse Smart Kaun, and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs.

His personal life has also been in the public eye. In a romantic gesture, he proposed to fellow contestant Sargun Mehta live on Nach Baliye 5, and the two tied the knot in 2013. Together, they founded Dreamiyata Entertainment in 2019, venturing into film and music production, especially in the Punjabi industry.

Though primarily a TV actor, Dubey made his film debut with a cameo in You Are My Jaan (2011) and later garnered praise for his performance in the 2021 web film Matsya Kand, co-starring Piyush Mishra and Ravi Kishan. He’s also made his mark in the digital space with music videos like “Ve Haaniya.”

Now, as he steps into the role of Lakshman in Ramayana, Dubey finds himself on the cusp of a new chapter. Sharing screen space with Bollywood heavyweights and embracing a character rooted in Indian mythology, this role may well redefine his career. With the first official glimpses set for release on July 3, anticipation is sky-high. From engineer to TV icon to mythological hero, Ravi Dubey’s journey is nothing short of cinematic.
