Who is Ranveer Allahbadia?

Ranveer Allahbadia, a well-known YouTuber who goes by the name BeerBiceps, is currently embroiled in a legal controversy following his remarks on Samay Raina's popular show, India’s Got Talent.

The comments made by Ranveer have sparked a significant backlash, leading to legal action and widespread criticism.

GUESTS ON INDIA'S GOT LATENT ALONGSIDE RANVEER ALLAHBADIA

He appeared on the show alongside other prominent content creators, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija, popularly known as Rebel Kid.

The controversy began after Allahbadia made an inappropriate comment that went viral, which led to an FIR being filed by the Guwahati Police. The police have accused Allahbadia and the other judges of promoting obscene and sexually explicit content through their appearance on the show.

COMPLAINST FILED AGAINST RANVEER ALLAHBADIA

During the episode in question, Ranveer asked a contestant an offensive and disturbing question that raised serious concerns about the responsibility of influencers and content creators in today’s media landscape.  The question he posed was, "Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?"

This inappropriate remark immediately caused outrage on social media, as many viewers found it to be distasteful and harmful.

BACKLASH ON RANVEER ALLAHBADIA

The backlash was swift, with many public figures and social media users expressing their disapproval. The incident has also led to calls for stricter regulations regarding the content produced by influencers and creators who have large followings. Critics have pointed out the lack of responsibility shown by Allahbadia and the other judges, particularly given the fact that the show’s audience includes many young viewers.

RANVEER ALLAHBADIA APOLOGISES

In response to the controversy, Ranveer Allahbadia issued an apology, acknowledging his mistake and apologizing for the inappropriate comment. Despite this, the incident has had a significant impact on his reputation.

Politicians, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and opposition leaders, have condemned the remark, with some even questioning the appropriateness of awarding Allahbadia a “National Creators Award” ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The criticism was further fueled by his massive following, with over 6 lakh followers on X, 4.5 million on Instagram, and over 10 million subscribers on YouTube.

The apology, however, has not been enough to stem the damage to Allahbadia’s online presence. Over the course of just five days following the incident, Allahbadia lost more than 8,350 followers, with significant drops on both his BeerBiceps account and his personal Ranveer Allahbadia account.

Ranveer Allahbadia has over nine years of experience in content creation, during which he has produced more than 850 podcasts. His online influence is vast, and he has played a significant role in shaping conversations in the digital space.

However, this controversy highlights the immense responsibility that comes with such a large platform, as influencers like Ranveer Allahbadia have the power to impact public perception, influence brands, and shape opinions.
