Bengaluru-born singer, actress, dancer, and licensed psychologist Kenishaa Francis is back in the news — not for her fabulous performances at several party destinations of Goa but for being romantically involved with South Indian actor Jayam Ravi (Ravi Mohan) whose popular role is that of Ponniyin Selvan in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus.

She grew her repertoire of songs in English, Tamil and Hindi, and became popular for performing solo, live. But her artistic path didn’t end with music — she took up acting, and pursued psychology as a career, following her mother into the field (her mom was an artist and therapist).

For Kenishaa, her entry into Hindi music was Blue Naina, which Zee Music released and with 90, 000 on Instagram, she has more success ahead in the realm of both music and fitness. Even though she gained a name for herself as an artist in the Goan club scene, Kenishaa has always maintained that she does not want to be pinned down to a single label — she is as deeply committed to her creativity, as she is to her healing.

Kenishaa's rumoured affair with Ravi Mohan first made news when Ravi announced his separation from his wife Aarthi in September 2024, after 14 years of marriage. Fans were in for a shock and the next thing one knew, Kenishaa’s name started doing the rounds in gossip columns, as being linked up with the actor.

Ravi and Kenishaa reportedly fell in love when they met for the launch of the song Idhayam Solvatho. Their bond grew stronger when a heartbroken Ravi sought therapy in Kenishaa following some harrowing times in his marriage. Their common passion for wellness and his therapeutic guidance worked to strengthen their connection, it is said.

Further fueling the guesses is a report by a Tamil magazine that contends Ravi and Kenishaa were pulled up for over speeding in Goa – and that the notice came to Aarthi’s phone and it was then that she stumbled upon something between him and the singer. Rumours also flew that the two had bought a bungalow together in Goa for the occasion of Ravi’s 14th wedding anniversary, adding to gossip that the relationship was deepening causing a strain on his marriage.

Aarthi’s Response and the Aftermath

Although Ravi broke the news of the split on a public platform in September 2024, his estranged wife Aarthi took to social media on September 11 to reveal her version in a touching post. She said she was "utterly shocked" by the "unilateral" announcement, which was made without her "agreement" or prior discussion. Aarthi mentions the mental unpleasantness caused to their kids and insisted on mutual respect and space.

The post led to a lot of speculation that Kenishaa perhaps had a hand in the split — a story both Ravi and Kenishaa have repeatedly denied.

Kenishaa Speaks Out

Amidst waves of media attention, Kenishaa spoke about her relationship with Ravi in an interview. Their first meeting, according to her, was strictly professional and there was no romance then. Ravi contacted her for counselling only after filing for divorce for emotional support during a hard time, she said.

Kenishaa also added that Ravi had wanted his sessions to remain confidential, “especially because he was having personal problems”. Ravi, on the other hand, sided with Kenishaa and lashed out at the third-party involvement in their private matters. He also revealed that the two of them are planning to open a healing centre in Goa and have currently been shortlisting the places.
