When Vijay Deverakonda remarked Shah Rukh Khan is 'not the last of the stars', 'You're incorrect'

Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda had discussed how Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan influenced him and responded to his 'I'm the last of the stars' statement.

Shah Rukh Khan's rise to success in the profession continues to inspire fans and aspiring performers. The actor said SRK is "the last of the stars."

In an interview with GQ India in 2022, Vijay Deverakonda stated confidently that Shah Rukh's comment was 'false'.

Vijay spoke about how Shah Rukh Khan's success inspired him, saying, "I can’t tell you how much Shah Rukh Khan’s success drove me. It showed me in clear terms: if he could do it, why couldn’t I? You only need one successful person as a reference point. Even when I was a nobody, I refused to do so many films. I always felt that I was meant for bigger things. People said, ‘You will never get an opportunity like this,’ but I had higher expectations of myself.”
When asked what he would say to Shah Rukh Khan if they met in person, Vijay responded to his comment declaring himself 'last of the stars' and stated, "When I saw his interview, I remember wanting to say, 'Shah Rukh, you're wrong." You're not the last. "I am on my way."

The comment Vijay refers to was made by SRK during a chat with Anupam Kher on The Anupam Kher Show.

When asked if he ever imagined someone else surpassing him in success or dominating the news instead, Shah Rukh had boldly said, "No, that won’t happen. I am modest, as Anu sir said, but that won’t happen. I’ll tell you honestly—I am the last of the stars."

Vijay Deverakonda and Shah Rukh Khan's next films include Kingdom, a Telugu spy thriller.

The film, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, features Satyadev in a significant part.

The film, produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the umbrellas of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, is scheduled to be a duology, with the first installment hitting theaters on May 30th.

In 2023, Shah Rukh had a successful comeback to the big screen with Pathaan and Jawan, earning over ₹1000 crore at the box office. The actor is currently preparing for another action flick named King. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, is expected to include Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, and others in significant parts. It will hit the floors later this year.
