When Salman Khan got real about his ‘no kissing, no horror’ policy: Dekho kiss toh main karta nahi screen pe...

Known for his commanding presence and widespread appeal, Salman Khan has dominated Bollywood in a variety of genres, including romantic dramas like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, light-hearted comedies like Judwaa and Partner, and, of course, his trademark high-octane action films.

However, the superstar has purposefully avoided two genres: sexually explicit films and horror films.

In a throwback interview with Rediff, Salman candidly opened up about his personal boundaries when it comes to certain kinds of content. “No. I get scared of horror films,” he admitted, firmly ruling out any association with the genre, whether as an actor or viewer. He summarised his aversion with his trademark honesty: “No sex yet, no horror yet."

One long-discussed feature of Salman’s on-screen image is his much-publicised “no-kiss” rule. Unlike many actors of his generation, Salman has consistently avoided kissing scenes on screen, irrespective of the film’s narrative requirements.

This commitment even became a topic of humour during an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, where Salman appeared with his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail. When host Kapil teased him about his no-kissing stance, Salman playfully responded, “Dekho kiss toh main karta nahi screen pe toh mujhe toh koi farak padta nai.”

Fans continue to argue over whether Salman violated this rule in Jeet with Karisma Kapoor, but some maintain that it was only a chin kiss and not a full-fledged on-screen kiss. Salman reportedly refused to film a kissing scene with Katrina Kaif in Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017.

Salman has never veered into graphic intimacy or terrifying horror, even though he has experimented with a variety of storytelling over the years. He keeps drawing enormous crowds, demonstrating that sensationalism doesn't have to come at the expense of star power.

Salman's next appearance will be in Apoorva Lakhia's Battle of Galwan. The conflict between Indian and Chinese troops in 2020 served as the inspiration for the movie. Salman portrays Colonel B Santosh Babu, the 16 Bihar regiment's martyred hero.

The gritty motion poster, which features Salman in a bloodied army uniform, moustachioed, and battle-ready—a dramatic departure from his typical roles, but one that reinforces his distinct stardom—has already sparked intense reactions online.
