Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have been central figures in the Bollywood industry, their camaraderie frequently capturing the public’s attention. They have delivered numerous blockbusters together, and their bond has been an example of friendship and mutual respect within the entertainment world.
SALMAN KHAN AND SHAH RUKH RIVALRY
Over the years, the duo has often been seen socialising together, whether at industry events or personal gatherings. However, not many know that their close relationship wasn’t always smooth sailing. In fact, there was a time when the two superstars had a highly publicised falling out, which rocked the entertainment industry and made headlines in 2008.
The infamous incident took place during Katrina Kaif’s birthday party that year, which was meant to be a celebratory gathering. However, the evening took a dramatic turn when an inebriated Salman Khan started mocking Shah Rukh Khan.
Reports suggest that Salman began taunting SRK about his television show, Kya Aap Panchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?—a remake of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?—and began accusing him of being selfish.
Salman allegedly said, "You are a matlabi insaan. You only call people when you need them, and then don’t keep in touch."
His words were reportedly aimed at Shah Rukh’s decision to refuse Salman’s request to make a cameo appearance in Salman’s upcoming movie Main Aur Mrs. Khanna.
The situation was made all the more complicated by the fact that Salman had previously done a cameo in Shah Rukh’s film Om Shanti Om and had appeared with Katrina Kaif on Kaun Banega Crorepati, a show hosted by SRK.
Salman’s frustration was evidently palpable, as he felt that Shah Rukh was not reciprocating his gestures.
In response, Shah Rukh didn’t hold back and made a pointed jab at Salman’s own game show, Dus Ka Dum, remarking that it wasn’t as successful as Kya Aap Panchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? in terms of TRP ratings. This exchange of words escalated quickly.
The altercation reached its boiling point when Salman allegedly threatened to physically confront SRK. In retaliation, SRK is said to have claimed that he would beat Salman up at his own party.

At this moment, Shah Rukh’s wife, Gauri Khan, intervened, urging her husband to leave the gathering. Shah Rukh and Gauri swiftly departed, and the fallout from the incident left both stars in an uneasy position.
The media, always eager for drama, pursued the story relentlessly, making it one of the most talked-about events of that year.
Following the altercation, Salman made further claims about Shah Rukh, including an accusation that SRK had insulted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman’s ex-girlfriend, which added fuel to the fire. Salman declared that Shah Rukh was no longer someone he considered a friend.
For his part, Shah Rukh remained relatively quiet about the incident, but by October 2008, he spoke out, stating, “I think like a father, while Salman thinks like a child! There is not much common between us, we think differently, we speak differently. We have spent a good time together. But with time, that fact has got blurred. We are happy in our worlds. If we come together it is good. If we don’t it’s even better. We are not friends.”
The rivalry between the two superstars remained a major point of discussion for years, and it seemed as though their friendship was beyond repair. However, in 2013, the two actors took a significant step towards reconciliation.

The much-awaited moment arrived at Baba Siddique’s Iftaar party, where Shah Rukh and Salman were spotted embracing each other, signalling the end of their bitter feud. It was a moment that not only relieved their fans but also served as a reminder of the power of forgiveness and maturity in the industry.
From then on, the relationship between Shah Rukh and Salman blossomed, with the two actors seen together at various events and functions. In fact, their bond has only grown stronger over the years, and they have supported one another in both personal and professional spheres. Their much-anticipated reunion was further solidified in 2023 when the two appeared together in Pathaan.
Their on-screen chemistry was electric, with the audience erupting in applause at their shared screen presence, proving that their bond was stronger than ever.
The rift, which once seemed insurmountable, became a thing of the past. The world of Bollywood witnessed the evolution of their relationship from a bitter rivalry to one of mutual respect and camaraderie. The episode serves as a reminder that even in the competitive world of showbiz, friendships can endure and conflicts can be resolved when the parties involved are willing to move forward.
In the years following their reconciliation, both Shah Rukh and Salman have continued to thrive in their careers, with their friendship becoming a symbol of maturity, understanding, and the importance of putting the past behind for the greater good. It’s a testament to how even the most intense feuds can be overcome, especially in a world where unity and collaboration ultimately reign supreme.
