In a strikingly throwback interview, Saif Ali Khan shared a personal experience based on his religion. The actor, known for his candidness, recounted how he was not able to purchase a house in Juhu, a posh area in Mumbai, solely because he is a Muslim.
He recalled the exchange, saying, "Try to buy a house in Juhu being a Muslim, and you will be denied, saying, ‘We don’t give houses to Muslims.’"
During the interview, Saif was asked whether he had encountered such discrimination outside of India. He said: “Not in the USA, but I face it in India."
In the same conversation, Saif said: “There are religious tensions in India, and maybe that is the thing about India—to tolerate it, deal with it. I mean, human nature is not simple and it will never be simple. A man fights with his wife, and brothers fight with each other, so it’s natural one country will fight with another, and one religion will fight with another. Fighting is not unusual. I think peace is unusual, understanding is unusual, so it’s fine.”

Earlier celebrities like Emraan Hashmi have also voiced similar experiences. Emraan had, in the past, spoken about the difficulties he faced in securing a flat because of his Muslim background.
