Amrita Singh, one of the beloved actresses from back in the day, married Saif Ali Khan in 1991, and their family was completed with the arrival of their two children, Sara and Ibrahim. However, after several years of being together, Saif and Amrita eventually parted ways.

AMRITA SINGH AND RAVI SHASTRI RELATIONSHIP

While this part of her life is widely known, what many might not be aware of is that Amrita had once been in a relationship with cricketer Ravi Shastri before meeting Saif. The couple was allegedly even engaged, but they eventually called it quits.

Recently, a video of Ravi Shastri began circulating on Reddit, where he shared a rather embarrassing memory from his past.

The cricketer recounted his first meeting with Amrita, referring to her as his 'then-girlfriend'. When the interviewer probed further, asking, 'Which girlfriend?', Ravi named Amrita Singh. What followed was Ravi’s amusing revelation about how their first encounter turned out to be 'embarrassing' for him.

RAVI SHASTRI RECALLS MEETING AMRITA SINGH FOR THE FIRST TIME

Ravi Shastri revealed that they met at a restaurant in Mumbai, and he couldn’t utter a single word for the first ten minutes. While he knew he was shy around girls, he didn’t realise he could be so shy that he would be unable to say anything at all. When the interviewer asked if Amrita kept the conversation going, Ravi agreed, and he candidly shared how it became the most awkward moment for him, stating, "Jab unse pehli baar mila.... yeh ek restaurant mei tha Bombay mai aur jab main pehli baar mila unse toh pehle 10 minute mein maine ek shabd bhi nahi kaaha. Mujhe pata tha ki main ladkiyon se kaafi shy tha lekin itna bhi nahi pata tha ki ekdin aisa ayega ki mujhe chance hi nahi milegi ek shabd bhi kehne ke liye 10 minute. This was my most embarrassing moment."

Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh were the talk of the town in the '80s, and their relationship even graced the cover of Cine Blitz magazine, sparking dating rumours.

The couple was reportedly engaged, but they eventually broke up. The reason behind their separation was that Ravi didn't want his wife to continue working in films after their wedding. In one of his interviews, Ravi admitted that he was 'chauvinistic' and didn’t want an actress wife.

On the other hand, Amrita reportedly said that she was too invested in her career at the time but would eventually be ready to step into the role of a full-time wife and mother. She was quoted as saying, "At the moment I'm too involved in my career to give it up. But I'm sure after a couple of years, I will be ready to become a full-time wife and mother."

After parting ways with Ravi, Amrita entered into a relationship with Saif Ali Khan, and the two eventually married. However, they separated in 2004.

On the other hand, Ravi Shastri married Ritu in 1990, and after 22 years of marriage, the couple separated in 2012. It was also reported that Ravi was quite taken by Nimrat Kaur, the actress from The Lunchbox, and the two were allegedly dating for a while. However, they later dismissed these claims.
