When Karan Johar once commented on Priyanka Chopra working in Hollywood: 'Ho gaya tumhara global achievement...'

For those unaware, Karan Johar and Priyanka Chopra reportedly had a long-going beef which started back in 2012.

Many people consider Priyanka Chopra to be one of Bollywood's most prosperous and adaptable actresses. She is most recognised for her roles in films like Aitraaz, Fashion, Don, Barfi!, and Bajirao Mastani, which highlight her versatility from glitz to dramatic drama.

In addition to her success in Bollywood, Priyanka broke down international boundaries when she moved to Hollywood and became one of the first Indian actresses to star in a major American television series with Quantico. In a previous Koffee with Karan episode, host Karan Johar made fun of her international fame.

In season 5 of Koffee with Karan episode 12, Priyanka Chopra had appeared as the guest. A video clip of a part of the episode is now going viral on social media in which they were about to begin the rapid fire round.

Before the duo began the game, Karan said, “We have heard all about your Hollywood achievement. Like you have been there and did it. You’ve been to every red carpet, every talk show. Now, this is where the real fun begins. That is why we called you on the couch."

Then he further added, “Bohot ho gayi tumhari taarif. Ho gaya tumhara global achievement. Hindi film actress ho, apni aukaat mein raho. (Enough of praising and talking about your global achievement. You are a Hindi film actress, so be within your limits.)"

It appeared to be a light-hearted comment, as Priyanka laughed it off cheerfully, clearly enjoying the moment and eager to dive into the rapid-fire round.

However, it didn't go well with a lot of netizens who came in support of Priyanka in the comment section of the post with the video clip on Instagram. One user wrote, "He’s so obviously insecure and desperately trying to act funny that she slightly humoured him. no it isn’t rude it is actually fun to watch him embarrass himself with his words on his own show." Another comment read, "Karan loves those who is "chugli aunty" , and Priyanka is very bold and unfiltered that's why he can't digest it." A user also wrote, "He is not only making fun of her but every hindi film actress." Another netizen wrote, "if jealously had a face."

In a podcast with Dax Shepherd back in 2023, Priyanka talked about being 'cornered' in Bollywood.

Soon after actress Kangana Ranaut had tweeted that the Citadel actress clearly meant Karan Johar in her statement.

However, in an interview with Hindustan Times that September, Karan clarified that there were no issues between him and Priyanka. He mentioned that they had shared a positive professional and personal relationship over the years and expressed hope that it would continue the same way.
