Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, known for his discipline and dedication to work, has always been a figure of admiration in Bollywood. However, filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia recently shared a lesser-known anecdote about Big B’s time in Bangkok while shooting for Ek Ajnabee.
In an interview with Friday Talkies, Lakhia revealed that Big B is an insomniac and doesn’t tire even after a long day of shooting. The actor often insisted on post-shoot outings, and during their stay in Bangkok, he expressed an interest in exploring the local culture—including its infamous nightlife.
Apoorva recalled how Amitabh Bachchan asked him about places to visit, and despite being warned about the chaos his presence might cause, he was determined to go. “I said, ‘Sir, this is Patpong, there are live shows here, if I take you, there will be riots. He said, ‘No, we will go’. So, I said let’s go,” he recalled. The director, along with actors Arjun Rampal, Vikram Chatwal, Perizaad Zorabian, and producer Bunty Walia, accompanied him to Patpong, the city’s red-light district.
Dressed in a buttoned-down shirt and a traditional Thai dhoti, Big B walked through the bustling streets as if he were strolling in Mumbai’s Juhu. The group then visited a club named Exotic P***y, where the megastar witnessed performances he had never seen before.
Lakhia amusingly recounted Big B’s reaction after the show, quoting him as saying, “Mind-blowing.” What truly amazed everyone, however, was that despite returning to their hotel at 2:30-3:00 AM, Amitabh Bachchan was back on set by 5:30 AM sharp.
