Vishnu Manchu meets Uttar Pradesh's CM Yogi Adityanath, announces release date of Kannappa

During their meeting, they shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse of the film’s making.

Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu on Wednesday officially announced the new release date for his highly anticipated mythological epic Kannappa.

In a significant development, the team behind Kannappa—including Vishnu Manchu, veteran actor and producer Mohan Babu, renowned choreographer-director Prabhu Deva, and executive producer Vinay Maheshwari—met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday morning.

With this announcement, Vishnu Manchu confirmed that Kannappa is now slated for a grand release on June 27, 2025.

Vishnu shared the glimpses of their meeting on X along with the caption, "Met one of my favorite Hero Sri. @myogiadityanath] ji. He was gracious to launch the date announcement poster of #Kannappa. During their meeting, they shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse of the film’s making. Manchu later noted that the Chief Minister deeply connected with the essence and spiritual core of the story.

“He understood that Kannappa isn’t just a story—it’s a cultural resurrection. The fact that he called for more such films to be made and seen affirms the spiritual and cultural power cinema can hold.“His words were a reminder that our mythology, our history, our heroes must continue to find their voice on the big screen and be passed down to generations,” the actor said in a statement.

The film, which brings to life the tale of the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva, was initially scheduled for a theatrical release on April 25. However, the makers had previously postponed its release to allow more time for the completion of its extensive visual effects work.

Kannappa also features Mohanlal, Prabhas, and Kajal Aggarwal, along with Akshay Kumar in his Telugu cinema debut.
