Even as Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues to enjoy an extraordinary run at the box office since its March 19 release, the film has also found itself at the centre of a growing debate.
While audiences and critics alike have been praising its scale and performances, singer Vishal Dadlani appears to have taken a subtle dig at one of its key narrative elements.
Without directly naming the film, Vishal shared a series of Instagram Stories on Sunday that many believe were aimed at Dhurandhar 2 and its depiction of demonetisation. His posts came shortly after the film raced past Rs 500 crore worldwide within just three days of release — a feat that has cemented its status as one of the biggest openers in recent times.
In the film, the 2016 demonetisation move announced by Narendra Modi is reimagined as a fictional operation titled ‘Operation Green Leaf’. It is portrayed as a calculated and strategic move designed to dismantle terror funding networks — a storyline that has resonated with many viewers but also raised eyebrows in certain quarters.
Vishal’s posts, though indirect, left little room for ambiguity. He used Satinder Sartaaj’s track Jaiye Sajana — a song featured prominently in Dhurandhar: The Revenge — making the connection apparent.
His post read, "In light of the new BS doing the rounds, it's important to remember that... A film is just entertainment. Facts are facts no matter what."
In another Story, he urged audiences to separate cinematic storytelling from real-world information, writing, "Watch films for fun, but get your information from better sources."
He also shared his observations on the terror activity following demonetisation. The note highlighted that while the policy aimed to curb terror funding, incidents of violence continued in the years that followed, including major events like the 2019 Pulwama attack and ongoing border tensions.

Reinforcing his stance, Vishal added once again, “Watch films for fun, but get your information from better sources.”
Despite the controversy, Dhurandhar: The Revenge remains unstoppable at the box office. The film features a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Released in theatres on March 19, the film continues to make waves not only in India but across the globe.
