Citing a breach of trust, State Award-winning actress Vincy Aloshious has withdrawn her complaint against actor Shine Tom Chacko.
The two were co-stars in the film Soothravakyam, during which Vincy had accused Shine of unprofessional behaviour on set. In her formal complaint, submitted to the Kerala Film Chamber and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Vincy alleged that Shine made her feel uncomfortable due to his erratic conduct and also claimed to have witnessed him exhale a white, powdery substance during a rehearsal.
The complaint was submitted on the strict condition that the actor’s identity remain confidential throughout the investigation process. However, this request was not honoured, leaving the actress disappointed and disillusioned.
Expressing her frustration in a statement to Kerala Kaumudi, Vincy said, “I had made it clear that the lead actor’s name must not be revealed. This is a serious breach of trust. One individual’s actions should not cast a shadow over an entire film. That’s precisely why I refrained from naming him publicly.”
Vincy, who appreciated the support she received from the film fraternity and cinema organisations, added, “The actor in question is exceptionally talented. He should be given a chance to acknowledge and correct his mistakes, not be denied work.”
Following his involvement in a different controversy involving a late-night drug raid at a posh hotel in Kochi, Shine Tom Chacko's name came to light. The actor was under increased scrutiny after CCTV footage purportedly showed him running from the third floor of the hotel as police arrived, despite the fact that no drugs were found on the property.
The entire situation has raised important concerns within the industry about confidentiality, professional conduct, and the repercussions of public exposure, especially in sensitive matters involving ongoing inquiries.
