Actor Vicky Kaushal, who is currently basking in the success of Chhaava, is reportedly preparing for a new and ambitious project—a biopic.
Vicky will play the legendary actor and director Guru Dutt, a titan of Indian cinema renowned for timeless masterpieces like Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, according to recent reports by Mid-Day. These films have a lasting legacy in Indian cinema history and still have an impact on viewers.
According to Mid-Day, the company that owns the rights to Guru Dutt's filmography, Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, is also considering turning some of his best-known films into web series. The company is also planning a biopic on the renowned actor-director in addition to these adaptations.
Rajat Agrawal, COO and Director at Ultra, mentioned that he had been in discussions with two highly respected directors who had expressed interest in adapting the filmmaker's works into web series and possibly creating a film based on his life. He added that once concrete plans were in place, more details could be shared, and noted that the team was also in contact with the filmmaker's family.

He also said, "While biopics are always challenging because they need to emulate an individual’s greatness and achievements, we would be happy to collaborate with producers and a modern-day director, who is a fanatic of Guru Dutt, and see where the project goes."
Meanwhile, Vicky will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. It is set to release in 2026.
