Veteran filmmaker and journalist Pritish Nandy passes away at 73, actor Anupam Kher remembers his 'inseparable friend'

Renowned poet, filmmaker, journalist, parliamentarian, and media personality Pritish Nandy has passed away at the age of 73 on Wednesday. The exact cause of his death has not been disclosed at this time.

Actor Anupam Kher, a close friend of Nandy, took to Instagram to express his sorrow and pay tribute to the multi-faceted artist and visionary. The two shared a deep bond, and Kher's heartfelt post reflected the sense of loss felt by many.

Anupam shared a photo of Pritish and penned a heartfelt note in the caption that read, "Deeply deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friends #PritishNandy! Amazing poet, writer, filmmaker and a brave and unique editor/journalist! He was my support system and a great source of strength in my initial days in Mumbai. We shared lots of things in common. He was also one of the most fearless people I had come across. Always Larger than life. I learnt so many things from him."

He further expressed how they seldom met in recent times and he is heartbroken by the death of his close friend. "Off-late we didn’t meet much. But there was a time when we were inseparable! I will never forget when he surprised me by putting me on the cover of Filmfare and more importantly #TheIllustratedWeelky. He was the true definition of यारों का यार! I will miss you and our times together my friend. Rest well.#HeartBroken," wrote Anupam as he concluded the post.

He is survived by his daughters, Rangita Pritish-Nandy and Ishita Pritish-Nandy and son Kushan Nandy.
