The anticipated Telugu action movie Ustaad Bhagat Singh, featuring Pawan Kalyan, is poised for a box office showdown with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh. In light of the highly talked-about box office rivalry, director Harish Shankar expressed his views on the matter and noted that he didn’t have complete control over the decision regarding the release date.

Both movies are set to debut on March 19, generating considerable excitement throughout the Indian film industry. This clash arose after another major film altered its release schedule, freeing up the date and leading the creators of Ustaad Bhagat Singh to advance their film’s release.

In an interview, Glute Harsih has addressed the film’ clash and clarified the intention about releasing the film on the same date as Dhurandhar. He also called Aditya Dhar a superior filmmaker and appreciated his film, Uri.

He said, “With all due respect, Aditya Dhar is a superior filmmaker. I watched Uri. He is a very impactful, very influential filmmaker. Having said that, India-wide films should consider Dhurandhar as competition. But we have our Telugu states for the film. Also, they both belong to very different genres. If, in place of Dhurandhar, it was an SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) movie, songs, full entertainer zone, then we would have thought, ‘Oh, it’s similar to our film.’ But Bhagat Singh and Dhurandhar are totally different films.”

Harish added, “Also, it’s a collective decision. It wasn’t in my hands alone. Somewhere within, I too felt, ‘I am doing a film with Pawan Sir after so long, and for that film to compete with any other big film…’ And still, whether it’s Sankranti or summer, it’s always a combination. There is space for 2-3 big films to work. It’s not like they won’t show any other film except Dhurandhar across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.”

Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the sequel to 2025's biggest hit, Dhurandhar, which will continue the story of Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mazhari. On the other hand, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is Telugu-action film that follows Pawan Kalayan as Bhagat Singh.
