After making a significant impact at the box office with its theatrical release, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s action-packed film Daaku Maharaaj is now set to capture the attention of audiences on OTT. The film, which was a major hit following its release on January 12, 2025, is gearing up for its digital debut. However, reports have recently surfaced suggesting that certain scenes featuring actress Urvashi Rautela may be cut from the OTT version.
According to a report by NDTV, the streaming platform has allegedly edited out Urvashi's scenes before the film's premiere.
However, there has been no official confirmation from either the filmmakers or the platform, so viewers will have to wait until Daaku Maharaaj is released on February 21, 2025, to find out if these rumours hold any truth.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Netflix had previously released an announcement poster for the film, showcasing the lead cast, but noticeably omitting Urvashi Rautela from the image. This omission further stirred rumours that the actress’s role might be entirely excluded from the streaming version of the film.
Daaku Maharaaj stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in a gripping role as an officer who, along with his wife, stands up against injustice.
The film follows his transformation into a fearless bandit, Daaku Maharaaj, as he takes on a powerful and corrupt family in his quest for justice. Apart from Balakrishna, the film features a strong ensemble cast, including Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, Rishi, Chandini Chowdary, Urvashi Rautela, and Pradeep Rawat in pivotal roles.
Directed by Bobby Kolli, the film features music by Thaman, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan, and editing by Ruben and Niranjan Devaramane.
The widely-discussed song Dabidi Dibidi from the film, featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna and Urvashi Rautela, faced significant criticism for its "vulgar" choreography. In response to the backlash, Urvashi expressed her bewilderment, stating that she couldn't comprehend why people were reacting so negatively to the choreography.
While talking The Hollywood Reporter India she addressed the critism and mentioned, "When you look at my rehearsal clips, everything went really well. It was like how we usually choreograph any song. I was working with Master Shekar, with whom I've collaborated before this was my fourth time. So it wasn't as if I was shocked or doing something completely out of the ordinary. During rehearsals, everything was smooth and under control. But honestly, everything happened so suddenly that it's been hard to assess why people are talking about the choreography in this way,"
She added, "We didn't realise it would be received like this because, during rehearsals, everything went as planned."
