Smriti Irani gets nostalgic about reunion with Sakshi Tanwar: “After 2.5 decades of camaraderie, felt like coming home”

Smriti Irani’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 continues to be one of television’s most discussed shows. With its mix of legacy characters and fresh faces, the series has managed to strike a balance between nostalgia and new-age storytelling. Now, the makers are taking things up a notch by bringing in two of Indian television’s most beloved stars, Sakshi Tanwar and Kiran Karmarkar, for a special crossover that promises to be pure nostalgia.

According to reports, Sakshi and Kiran known to an entire generation as Parvati and Om from Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii — will make an appearance in the show to help reunite the iconic couple Mihir and Tulsi, played by Ronit Roy and Smriti Irani. This reunion of two of TV’s most memorable on-screen families — the Viranis and the Agarwals — has already stirred excitement among fans who grew up watching these shows dominate prime-time television in the early 2000s.

Behind-the-scenes photos from the sets of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 have gone viral, featuring Sakshi, Kiran, Smriti, Amar Upadhyay, and other members of the cast sharing laughter and warmth. The energy, say crew members, was “like stepping back into a golden era of television.”

Smriti Irani, who plays Tulsi and is now also a Union Minister, shared a heartfelt post about the reunion. She wrote,
“Grace, grit and gorgeousness—there are many adjectives that I can ascribe to Sakshi but what I can’t describe is how it felt to embrace the memory and reality of her after 2.5 decades of camaraderie. We didn’t know the ruckus Tulsi and Parvati created, for we were not chasing history — we happened to make it while chasing excellence. To say she is a loving mother, a doting daughter, an authentic human being — is to reduce her to just complimentary phrases, to bind her to mere words. So what do you say to her, for this is one person who can make even silences speak. You are loved Sakshi and I hope you know you are home, hope and all heart.”

The emotional message quickly went viral, with fans sharing old clips of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, reminiscing about the golden age of Indian television. Comments poured in: “Two legends in one frame,” “This is history repeating itself,” and “Can’t wait to see Parvati and Tulsi together again.”

Social media has also been buzzing with speculation that this crossover could coincide with Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’s 25th anniversary celebrations. While the makers have kept plot details under wraps, insiders suggest Sakshi and Kiran’s characters will play pivotal roles in resolving a major conflict between Mihir and Tulsi.

The new season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 premiered on July 29 at 10:30 pm on Star Plus. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, it brings back the original cast — Smriti Irani, Amar Upadhyay, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Shakti Anand, and Ketki Dave — alongside newcomers Aman Gandhi, Shagun Sharma, and Rohit Suchanti.

The first season, which aired over 1,800 episodes, defined Indian television’s soap opera era. With this crossover, Kyunki 2 isn’t just reviving memories — it’s reminding audiences why Tulsi and Parvati will forever be television royalty.
