Kaun Banega Crorepati 17: Kiku Sharda leaves Amitabh Bachchan in splits with his Shah Rukh Khan ‘rift’ joke

The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati doesn’t simply settle into its regular pace — it cheerfully throws routine out the window the moment Kiku Sharda strolls in as his ever-popular character, Bacha Yadav.

What is usually a composed, dignified opening quickly transforms into a lively, laughter-filled atmosphere. Kiku arrives with that unmistakable spark in his eye, as if he’s absolutely determined to stir up some harmless trouble, and it takes him barely a few seconds to have Amitabh Bachchan — and everyone else around — waiting eagerly to see where he’ll go next.

Keeping an impressively straight face, he drops a mischievous line that instantly has the studio roaring: “Sir, I’ve heard you don’t get along with Shah Rukh Khan. You even threw him out of the house in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.”

The audience breaks into laughter, and you can almost see Amitabh preparing himself, smiling as though he knows this is just the beginning. And of course, he’s right — Kiku is nowhere near finished.

He then stretches the joke even further, claiming that poor SRK has not only been ousted from Gurukul in Mohabbatein but even from Piku — a film he wasn’t part of in the first place. That’s when Amitabh, amused and slightly bemused, bursts out laughing as he says: “But Shah Rukh wasn’t even in Piku!” Kiku, with perfect timing and an air of innocent logic, fires back with his punchline: “Sir, if you’ve fired him, how will he ever be in the film?” It’s one of those beautifully silly moments where everything clicks, and Amitabh Bachchan can’t help but laugh wholeheartedly, completely giving in to the humour of it all.

Soon after, Sudesh Lehri enters the picture, adding his own unique style of humor and boosting the intensity even further. The genuine fun shared between the performers and their host, who obviously enjoys the spontaneity, is what makes the entire sequence so enjoyable. It doesn't feel forced or overly practiced.

Another clip from the episode shows Sudesh imagining how a ghazal singer might perform for a Punjabi audience, turning the contrast into a wonderfully funny bit that has viewers giggling all over again.

Premiered on 11 August, Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 airs on Sony Entertainment Television.
