The filming of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 has hit a sudden halt after the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) ordered an immediate shutdown at Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures in Bidadi Hobli, near Bengaluru. The decision came after the board found multiple environmental violations during an on-site inspection.

The show, hosted by actor Kichcha Sudeep, has been one of the most-watched regional reality shows in Karnataka. However, production can only resume after compliance with environmental norms. Officials confirmed that untreated wastewater and improper waste management were the primary issues leading to the action.

According to KSPCB officials, the inspection revealed that untreated wastewater from the studio premises was being released into nearby land, causing contamination. Although the production team claimed to have installed a 250 KLD-capacity Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), inspectors discovered that it wasn’t operational. Key connections required for proper drainage were missing, and there was no proof of functioning effluent treatment.

The inspection also found poor waste segregation practices on-site. Disposable materials like plastic cups and paper plates were scattered without any formal system for collection or documentation. Two large diesel generator sets were also in use, further raising pollution concerns.
Soon after news of the closure broke, members of the Kasturi Karnataka Janapara Vedike staged a protest outside Jolly Wood Studios. They accused the showrunners and the studio management of neglecting environmental responsibilities. The protesters demanded that Bigg Boss Kannada shooting be stopped until full compliance was achieved, chanting slogans against both the production and the studio owners.

A senior KSPCB official stated that the studio’s management and the production house have been instructed to take immediate corrective measures. The show will remain suspended until the KSPCB confirms that the site meets all required environmental standards, including operational sewage and solid waste management systems.
