Bigg Boss 9 Fame Priya Malik started her Diwali like any other festivity, but ended up with a terrifying accident.

Priya took to her Instagram Story and shared the scary accident. She revealed that her entire back was engulfed in flames due to a burning diya.

Priya wrote, “Had a freak accident yesterday night while celebrating Diwali. Talking about it here because I'd only ever seen such things in the films until it happened to me. My entire back from bottom till my shoulders and hair bun was engulfed in flames all in a matter of a moment due to a burning diya behind me.”

She revealed, “I was taking a pic with my neighbours and before I knew it I saw flames rising from my right shoulder and realised my entire back is on fire. And I'm talking engulfing flames- not just a small fire. Thankfully my dad managed to tear apart the burning clothes as that was the only way to escape the burns but this incident has shocked me and our family deeply.”

The former Bigg Boss contestant continued in another Instagram Story, “I know we all talk about fire safety and think nothing like that could ever happen to us but last night I realised how even a simple careless moment could've costed me my life.”

“There is simply no way to escape fire when it's creeping up on you in flames- my Dad was a hero in that moment. I'm doing ok- I have superficial burns on my shoulders, back and fingers. I don't know how I survived without further damage but this incident has probably left me traumatised from Diwali forever,” continued Priya.

She concluded her post by urging, “Please take care of yourself in such times and most importantly I'm glad that l wasn't holding my baby when this happened. I'll probably still celebrate next year but this is a lesson for life.”

For the unversed, Priya Malik rose to fame through Bigg Boss 9. She is married to entrepreneur Karan Bakshi in a Gurudwara ceremony in Delhi in 2022. The couple welcomed their son, Zorawar, on March 31, 2024.
