Mumbai was shaken by a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday evening when a 14-year-old boy, the son of a well-known television actor, died by suicide by jumping from a high-rise building in the Kandivali West area. The boy, a Class 9 student, reportedly jumped from an upper floor of Sea Brook building around 6 p.m. following an argument with his mother over attending tuition.

According to police officials, the boy was reluctant to go for his tuition class, which led to a disagreement with his mother, an actor known for her roles in Hindi and Gujarati television serials. Moments after the argument, he left the apartment and, according to preliminary findings, went down a few floors before jumping from the building.

The family lived on the 51st floor of the high-rise residential complex. While initial reports suggest the fall may have occurred from as high as the 57th floor, authorities are still working to confirm the exact details. A resident of the building witnessed the fall and quickly informed the mother. Emergency services and police were alerted, and the Kandivali police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) shortly after.

So far, there is no evidence of foul play, and officials have initiated a routine panchnama and inquiry. “We have not found anything suspicious so far,” said a senior police officer, adding that they are looking into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

The boy was the only child of the actor, who has reportedly been living separately from her husband following a divorce. The child lived with his mother in the Sea Brook apartment. Police have confirmed that they will be speaking with the mother, teachers, and others close to the family to understand any ongoing concerns in the boy’s life.

One of the focal points of the investigation is to determine whether academic pressure may have played a role in the tragedy. Officers have stated they will probe the child's mental state, school environment, and family dynamics to gain a fuller picture of what might have led to his extreme step.

The shocking incident has sparked conversations across Mumbai about the pressures faced by school-going children and the importance of mental health awareness. Experts urge parents and educators to maintain open communication with children and to be attentive to signs of emotional distress.
