  • Tu Meri Main Tera sees a surge in advance bookings before Christmas release
  • Film sold over 57,600 tickets for opening day, grossing about Rs 3.45 crore
  • Advance bookings surpass Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari's opening day numbers

With just a day left for its Christmas theatrical debut, Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri has finally shown signs of momentum at the box office.

After a slow and cautious start to advance bookings, the film has registered a noticeable jump in ticket sales, cutting through the dominance of the ongoing Dhurandhar wave across India.

Directed by Sameer Vidwans, the Dharma Productions-backed film marks Kartik Aaryan’s first on-screen collaboration with Karan Johar after two earlier projects failed to materialise. It also reunites Kartik with Ananya Panday following Pati Patni Aur Woh, adding a familiarity factor to its pre-release buzz. However, despite the star pairing and festive release window, the film’s advance booking journey has been anything but smooth.

Industry tracking reports initially pointed to muted interest, with limited screen allocation in major national chains. Adding to the uncertainty was the online backlash surrounding the remixed version of the iconic song Saat Samundar, which drew sharp criticism from fans of the original. These factors collectively raised questions about the film’s on-ground buzz and opening-day prospects.

According to a Pinkvilla report, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri had sold around 12,500 tickets in PVR Inox and Cinepolis combined for Day 1 as of Tuesday night. However, the scenario improved significantly by Wednesday afternoon. As per the latest Sacnilk data, the film had sold over 57,600 tickets for its opening day by 1:15 PM, including block seats, translating to an advance gross of approximately Rs 3.45 crore.

The surge has also helped the film outperform Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari in advance booking numbers. Reports suggest that SSKTK had clocked pre-sales of around Rs 2.86 crore for its opening day, placing TMMTMTTM ahead in the pre-release race.

While Dhurandhar continues to command audience attention nationwide, the late uptick in bookings indicates that festive walk-ins and last-minute ticket buyers could play a crucial role in shaping the film’s opening-day performance. All eyes are now on how the rom-com fares once audiences finally step into theatres this Christmas.
