It’s time to dust off the toy box. Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story is heading back to theaters this month for its 30th anniversary, and tickets are officially on sale.
The animated classic that first hit theaters in 1995 is returning to the big screen starting September 12. And here’s the kicker — for the first time ever, audiences can catch Buzz and Woody’s adventure in immersive 4DX.
For fans, this isn’t just nostalgia. Toy Story was the first feature-length computer-animated film, a game-changer that redefined what animation could be. Directed by John Lasseter, the film introduced audiences to Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), and a colorful gang that included Jessie, Hamm, Rex, Bo Peep, and the ever-sarcastic Mr. Potato Head. The voices alone — Annie Potts, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger — are a reminder of Pixar’s early magic.
The re-release is also a celebration of the film’s legacy. Back in 1995, Toy Story earned Oscar nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Song, along with a Special Achievement Award from the Academy. It swept the Annie Awards, taking home eight wins, and to this day, it boasts a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The franchise grew far beyond that first film. Four sequels, a spin-off series, and Lightyear later, the Toy Story brand has raked in more than $3.3 billion worldwide. It still sits as the fourth highest-grossing animated franchise of all time.
But this month, it’s back to where it all began. Fans can relive the original adventure, bigger, louder, and in 4DX. Tickets for the Toy Story 30th Anniversary Theatrical Event are available now at Fandango and other outlets.
