Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci have officially ended their relationship after two years together. The 67-year-old filmmaker and the 60-year-old Italian actress issued a joint statement on September 19, 2025, confirming their split. “It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways,” the statement read.
Their story began in 2006 when they first met briefly at the Cannes Film Festival. At the time, both were in long-term relationships, and nothing more came of it. Years later, in 2022, they crossed paths again in Lyon when Bellucci presented Burton with the Lumière Award. Soon after, they were spotted walking arm-in-arm in Madrid, sparking speculation of a romance.
The couple made their relationship public in October 2023 during the Rome Film Festival, where Burton attended the premiere of Bellucci’s film Maria Callas: Lettere e Memorie. Reports described the two as “so in love and happy,” solidifying their bond in the public eye.
Both Burton and Bellucci had significant relationships before finding each other. Burton was with actress Helena Bonham Carter from 2001 to 2014, with whom he shares two children, Billy and Nell. Bellucci was married to French actor Vincent Cassel from 1999 to 2013, and they share two daughters, Deva and Léonie.
While the reasons for their breakup remain private, their joint statement emphasizes respect and care, suggesting an amicable parting rather than a bitter end. Their journey together, though short-lived, intertwined both their personal and professional worlds, leaving a mark on fans who admired their pairing.
