Thug Life Box Office Collection Day 4: Kamal Haasan starrer film earns 36.90 Cr

Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's pan-India movie Thug Life, which marked his reunion with ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam, has managed to earn Rs 36.90 Cr in the four days of its release.

The movie, which was released on June 5, was in the news for the statement that Kannada originated from Tamil. His movie has been banned in Karnataka after the actor-producer refused to apologise for his statement, which has hurt the sentiments of Kannadigans.

The movie failed to rake in Rs 50 crore in the first weekend, which is being seen as Kamal Haasan's weakest opening till now in the last five years.

According to box office tracking website Sacnilk, the movie has managed to earn Rs 36.52 crore net in its four-day opening weekend.

On Sunday, the gangster drama collected a mere Rs 6.12 crore in India, with the majority contribution from its original Tamil version.

While the makers were expecting a rise in collections on Saturday and Sunday, the movie earned Rs 7.75 crore and Rs 6.12 crore, respectively.

Here's the daywise break up of box office collections till now: 

Day 1: Rs 15.5 crore

Day 2: Rs 7.15 crore

Day 3: Rs 7.75 crore

Day 4: Rs 6.12 crore

Total: Rs 36.52 crore

His last film, 'Indian 2' also flopped at the box office and it had managed to collect only Rs 69.15 crore net in its three-day opening weekend in India then.

During its three-day opening weekend in India, his last film, 'Vikram' (2022), had grossed Rs 110.8 crore net.

If compared to his last two films, 'Thug Life's performance at the box office is dismal.

The reviewers were also giving mixed reactions to the movie, which was the most awaited.

'Thug Life' also stars Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Nasser and many others. The film has music composed by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi K Chandran and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
