Astronomer has officially denied online rumours suggesting that the woman spotted alongside CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot at the Coldplay concert was employee Alyssa Stoddard.
In a statement shared on X, the data startup said: “We can confirm that the only employees of Astronomer in attendance at the Coldplay concert were Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot. The woman speculated to be Alyssa Stoddard is not affiliated with our organisation.”

How a hug became a headline
The controversy erupted when concert footage surfaced showing Byron hugging Cabot from behind just as the kiss cam landed on them, a moment that appeared personal and awkward, especially considering both hold top leadership roles at Astronomer.
But what really captured viewers’ attention wasn’t just the hug. A woman seated next to the pair had a stunned, almost cringe-filled reaction, one that lit up the internet. Social media users were quick to identify her, incorrectly, as Alyssa Stoddard. Within hours, her name trended, memes exploded, and people were combing through LinkedIn profiles to piece together the supposed workplace drama.
'The embarrassed girlie' and viral chaos
One viral post claimed: “The embarrassed girlie next to them turning out to be their colleague who the head of HR promoted just a week ago… absolute cinema.” Another dubbed the fourth person in the frame, a silent man seated next to the so-called 'Alyssa,' as 'Jimmy from Accounting.'

It didn’t matter that no one confirmed who these people really were. The internet had already written its own corporate soap opera, complete with screenshots, conspiracy theories, and corporate commentary.
Behind the scenes: Investigation and fallout
The backlash was swift. As the video circulated across X, Reddit, and TikTok, Astronomer found itself in the crosshairs of a digital scandal. The firm, a data orchestration platform backed by Salesforce Ventures and Bain Capital Ventures, soon placed both Byron and Cabot on leave, pending an internal investigation.
Meanwhile, former employees began surfacing online with claims about alleged toxic leadership within the company, further escalating public scrutiny.
Searches like 'Astronomer CEO scandal' and 'Coldplay cheating video' spiked on Google Trends, amplifying the reach of what began as an awkward moment on a stadium jumbotron.
