The brutalist to release in India

The Oscar-nominated film The Brutalist is finally set to release in India. This highly anticipated movie, which is a strong contender for the upcoming Academy Awards, will be hitting cinemas two months after its US release on December 20, 2024.

The Brutalist has become a frontrunner in this awards season, receiving critical acclaim and winning major accolades at the Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture—Drama, Best Director, and Best Actor in a Motion Picture—Drama.

Directed by Brady Corbet and starring Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones, the film will be released in Indian theatres on February 28, 2025.

The film boasts a remarkable ensemble cast, with Adrien Brody leading alongside Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Isaach De Bankolé, and Alessandro Nivola.

The Brutalist premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, where it received widespread praise, particularly for Brody's performance, which critics have described as a career-best. Corbet also earned the Silver Lion for Best Director at the festival.

After a limited release in December, the film grossed $13.72 million in the United States and an estimated $11.47 million internationally, bringing its total worldwide box office to approximately $25.20 million.

The film also made headlines earlier for its use of AI in post-production. However, the director later clarified that AI was only employed to refine certain syllables and vowels in the Hungarian language.

Director Brady Corbet explained that AI audio technology, specifically Respeecher, was used in the Hungarian language dialogue editing to "refine certain vowels and letters for accuracy. No English language was changed." Speaking about the performances of Oscar-nominated actors Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones, Corbet stated, “Adrien and Felicity’s performances are completely their own."
