The Bengal Files trailer to be attached to War 2 and Coolie during the August 16 show in Kolkata

Capitalizing on this festive buzz, Agnihotri smartly attached his film’s teaser to War 2 and Coolie to maximize visibility ahead of his September release.

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's upcoming historical drama film trailer, The Bengal Files, will premiere on 16 August 2025 in Kolkata. Additionally, the film's teaser will be featured alongside the highly anticipated movies, War 2 and Rajinikanth's Coolie, which are already running in the theatres.

The Bengal Files, the final installment of Vivek Agnihotri’s contentious Files trilogy—preceded by The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files delves into the violence of Bengal’s 1946 Direct Action Day and the Calcutta killings.

Its first trailer, released in June 2025, sparked controversy with its grim visuals, including bloodshed, a Kashmiri Pandit’s warning that "Bengal is turning into another Kashmir," and a burning idol of Goddess Durga.

On the other hand, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani released globally on 14 August 2025, coinciding with the Indian Independence Day weekend. It will clash with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, starring Rajinikanth.

The Bengal Files, written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, is produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. Featuring a star-studded cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar, the film is presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Am Buddha.

It marks the third installment in Vivek’s Files trilogy, following The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, and is set to release in theaters on September 5, 2025.
