The Beatles Biopic Franchise cast announced

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the film industry, acclaimed director Sam Mendes has announced the cast for his highly anticipated Beatles biopic franchise, slated for release in April 2028. Revealed during CinemaCon in Las Vegas, this ambitious four-film series promises to delve deeper into the lives and legacy of the legendary British band, offering a fresh take on their story.

Paul Mescal, the breakout star of Normal People, will step into the iconic shoes of Paul McCartney. His casting has been met with excitement, with many fans eager to see the actor bring McCartney’s charm and emotional depth to the screen. Joseph Quinn, who captivated audiences in Stranger Things, will portray the introspective George Harrison, while Barry Keoghan, known for his raw performances in The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Dune, takes on the role of Ringo Starr. Harris Dickinson, best known for his role in The King's Man, will round out the core group as John Lennon, a character who is as complex and charismatic as he is controversial.

In an exclusive statement, Mendes, whose previous works include American Beauty and 1917, expressed his long-held passion for telling the story of The Beatles: “I’ve been trying to make a story about The Beatles for years. While their rise to fame has been well-chronicled, I can assure you there is still plenty to explore.” Mendes, known for his meticulous direction and ability to blend historical accuracy with cinematic flair, promises a deep dive into the personal and creative journeys of each member of the Fab Four.

The films will be released in close succession, following an unconventional strategy aimed at reinvigorating cinema attendance in a post-pandemic world. Mendes believes that the sheer scale and emotional depth of the Beatles’ story will draw audiences back into theaters. “Frankly, we need big cinematic events to get people out of the house,” he stated.
