Taylor Swift has offered fans a rare glimpse into her personal and professional life during an unusually candid appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason Kelce.

In the nearly two-hour conversation, the 14-time Grammy winner spoke openly about her forthcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, while also sharing light-hearted details about her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

The episode ended with the couple exchanging a playful kiss on-air, prompting Jason to exclaim, “Oh my gosh, alright,” much to the amusement of listeners. Swift, blushing in response, was visibly shy about the moment.

Reflecting on the origins of their romance, Taylor Swift credited New Heights for bringing them together, recalling how Travis had once spoken about making her a friendship bracelet and hoping to meet her during the Eras Tour in 2023.

“It felt like something out of an 80s John Hughes movie… and it worked,” she said, adding that her relatives had encouraged her to meet him. She fondly described Kelce as “the good kind of crazy” and a “human exclamation point.”

Turning to her new music, Swift revealed that The Life of a Showgirl will be released on 3 October.

Written during her record-breaking Eras Tour, the record offers an intimate reflection of life behind the glamour. The cover art depicts the singer in a bejewelled gown submerged underwater, representing the calm that follows the intensity of performing. Swift described the album as “upbeat, joyful, and wildly dramatic,” marking a sharp departure from her last release, The Tortured Poets Department. Pre-orders proved so popular they briefly crashed her website.

Speaking on her famous ‘Easter eggs,’ Taylor Swift explained that they are never truly about her personal life but always tied to her art. She also celebrated reclaiming the rights to her first six albums, calling it a “life-altering moment.”

The conversation wasn’t without domestic humour, as the pair recounted making sourdough bread together — complete with stray cat hairs and “a hint of Travis’ chest hair” — and joked about Swift’s beginner’s grasp of American football. Travis praised her willingness to embrace his world, while she, in turn, appreciated his patience and the way “he led her along.”
