The National Award-winning actor Bobby Simha was involved in a serious traffic accident when his car, which was driven by a staff member under the influence of alcohol, collided with several other cars, injuring multiple people. According to a statement issued by local authorities, the incident happened in Chennai on Saturday.

As per India Today, the actor, however, was not present in the car at the time of the accident, police confirmed. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Ekkaduthangal towards Chennai Airport when the crash took place.

Chennai Traffic Police revealed that the driver, identified as Pushparaj, was intoxicated and over-speeding at the time of the incident. “While descending the Kathipara flyover towards Alandur Metro Station, he lost control due to over-speeding and ploughed into three motorcycles, two autorickshaws, and one car,” said an officer.

The high-speed collision left at least four individuals, all motorcyclists, with varying degrees of injuries. “Four people on motorcycles were injured and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital,” the police added. The victims, whose identities have not been disclosed, are under medical care, and their condition is being monitored.

Police have emphasised that Bobby Simha was not involved in the accident because he was not in the car at the time, even though the actor has not yet made a public statement. However, the incident has spurred new discussion about the need for tougher enforcement of drunk driving laws and the accountability of celebrity staff.
