As the investigation into the tragic death of former One Direction member Liam Payne continues, a new development has emerged. The hotel employee accused of providing drugs to the late singer has now turned himself in to authorities, as the probe into the circumstances surrounding the accident and those involved is still ongoing.
The hotel employee, 21-year-old Ezequiel David Pereyra, has reportedly surrendered to authorities through his attorney after being sought by police, who were unable to locate him despite having an arrest warrant for pre-trial custody.
According to The Mirror US, Pereyra's lawyer confirmed that his client voluntarily turned himself in but has not pleaded guilty or acknowledged any wrongdoing related to the charges against him.
Eyewitness statements and CCTV footage confirm that Pereyra was handed $100 by Liam Payne to purchase drugs. Earlier this month, hotel waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz was also arrested on serious drug-related charges in connection with Payne’s death.
Pereyra, who had been suspended from his role at CasaSur Palermo Hotel following Payne’s tragic fall from the third-floor balcony on October 16, has now been formally charged and placed in custody. This comes after his surrender, under the directive of Judge Laura Bruniard. The judge had earlier accused Pereyra of supplying cocaine to Payne on October 15 at 3:25 AM, as well as between 3:30 PM and 4 PM on October 16.
In total, five individuals have been charged in the case, including the singer’s representative in Argentina, the hotel manager, and the head of reception. For those unversed, Liam Payne fell to his death from the hotel balcony in Beunos Aires October 16, 2024.
