Sunny Deol made a remarkable comeback to Bollywood with Gadar 2, the sequel to his iconic blockbuster Gadar. Starring alongside Ameesha Patel, the film became one of the highest-grossing Hindi movies of all time. In a recent interview, Sunny admitted that he was initially apprehensive about taking on Gadar 2.
In a conversation with Komal Nahata, Sunny Deol revealed that he was apprehensive about making Gadar 2 as he feared tampering with the cherished legacy of the original film. “Gadar 2 banane se bohot darr raha tha because voh film ka ek pyaarapan tha, ek khoobsurati thi jo logo ke dil main baithi hui hai. Doosri film, uska part 2 karoon, kahin uske andar agar galat ho gaya toh logo ne jis cheez ka maza liya voh kahin kharab na ho jaaye (I was very scared to make Gadar 2 because the first film had a certain innocence and beauty that is deeply embedded in people's hearts. If I made a sequel and something went wrong, it could ruin the essence that audiences cherished)," he said.
The Yamla Pagla Deewana actor shared that his fear initially held him back from making Gadar 2. However, after hearing the story, he felt reassured. He added that the film retained the same characters, era, and technique with confidence, without attempting to modernize it.
Gadar 2 grossed Rs 691.08 crore worldwide after its release in 2023.
Meanwhile, Sunny Deol is gearing up for his upcoming film Jaat, set to release on April 10, 2025.

Starring Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda in lead, it also features Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, and Regina Cassandra in pivotal roles.
