When news broke that Govinda had fainted during a workout and was rushed to the hospital, the first wave of concern came from fans. The second came from someone much closer to him: his wife, Ssunita Ahuja. What surprised many was her admission that she learnt about his condition the same way everyone else did, through online reports rather than direct updates.
The incident unfolded just days after worrying health news involving veterans Dharmendra and Prem Chopra. According to the early reports, Govinda felt uneasy during an exercise session and collapsed.
He was admitted to CitiCare Hospital, the same place where he had previously been treated after an accidental gun injury to his leg. His team later clarified that he received immediate medical care and was discharged soon after. Govinda even interacted with the media outside the hospital to reassure everyone that he was fine.
But inside the worry stood Ssunita, who wasn’t even in town. In her latest YouTube vlog, she revealed, almost matter-of-factly, “I got to know about Govinda’s condition through online reports instead of receiving direct updates.” For someone who has been by the actor’s side for decades, the distance in communication stung more than the health scare itself.
Responding to a concerned fan, she added a more comforting update. “Govinda is completely fit. He was working out to prepare for his new film Duniyadaari when he fainted.” She explained that she later watched an interview that mentioned fatigue due to over-exercising. “But he’s doing well now. Don’t worry.”
The vlog didn’t stop at health. Ssunita also addressed the recent controversy involving Govinda apologising to his family priest. The issue had snowballed after she casually referred to the priest as a “chor” during a podcast appearance. The comment triggered backlash, eventually leading Govinda to apologise publicly.
Ssunita clarified her side without dodging responsibility. “I didn’t like how Govinda apologised to his priest with folded hands. I never mentioned anyone’s name; I was just sharing one of our personal experiences. If anyone felt hurt by my words, I apologise to them and to all priests.” She went on to add that Govinda has three priests and didn’t need to “name anyone or publicly apologise”. The guilt she felt was visible when she said, “I felt very bad that he had to do that because of me.”
Toward the end of the vlog, Ssunita offered a reflection that felt more like a lesson wrapped in honesty. Speaking about loyalty and relationships, she said, “Be loyal. Give her time. Stay true to her. Don’t even think of cheating, because when a wife is hurt, even the strongest man can fall.”
It was a moment that pulled together health scares, public perception, miscommunication, and marriage into one clear message. Behind the headlines, there is a couple still figuring things out like anyone else, trying to stay strong through chaos that plays out both offline and online.
