The pairing of Govinda and Salman Khan in the 2007 comedy blockbuster Partner was iconic. The film, which became one of the highest-grossing movies of the year, showcased their unmatched chemistry and comedic timing. Now, Sunita Ahuja, Govinda’s wife, has voiced her hopes for the duo to team up again for a sequel.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sunita expressed her enthusiasm for the potential project. She revealed, “Partner 2 ka bohot maine bhi suna tha, par mujhe bhi nahi pata kya hua. Karenge toh acha hai, public ne pasand toh kiya tha dono ko.” (I had heard about Partner 2, but I don’t know what happened with the project. It will be great if they do it. The audience loved them together.)
Sunita highlighted the duo’s electrifying chemistry in the original film, suggesting that their reunion would be a treat for fans and a significant moment for Bollywood.
Sunita also addressed ongoing comparisons between Govinda and actor Varun Dhawan. She noted that while some see a resemblance in their energy and performances, these comparisons might not be well-received by Varun.
She elaborated, saying Varun’s exposure to Govinda’s work with his father, David Dhawan, likely contributed to the similarities. “Varun had witnessed Chi-Chi (Govinda) work with his father on several films, so it’s natural for some of that energy to reflect in him. But Varun has always been a lively and cheerful person, even as a child,” she remarked.
While no official announcements have been made about Partner 2, fans and industry insiders continue to speculate. With both Salman Khan and Govinda enjoying massive fan followings, their potential collaboration could be a blockbuster moment for Bollywood.
