BTS member Kim Taehyung, better known as V, has generated a lot of excitement online with hints about an enigmatic new project after completing his required military service.

When the well-liked K-pop star made an unexpected appearance on WeVerse Live, he gave fans just enough cryptic hints to send them into a frenzy and spark widespread rumours that he might be joining Netflix's popular series Squid Game.

In the live broadcast, V teased, “This is probably… Maybe if we wait a little longer, I think it’ll come out. But it’s not really a big deal. Oh, but to me, it’s actually a huge deal." That was all it took for ARMYs, known for their sharp sleuthing skills, to piece together what they believe is a major reveal in the making.

The most popular fan theory? The third season of Squid Game, the dystopian thriller that has become a global cultural phenomenon, will mark V's acting debut.

Fans have long suspected a connection, so this speculation isn't totally new. V famously made an appearance at BTS' Permission to Dance on Stage concert wearing a red guard uniform and a mask similar to those seen in Squid Game, which sparked wild speculation that the moment was a secret clue.

Adding weight to the rumours were recent interviews with Squid Game stars Lee Jung-jae and Wi Ha-joon. When asked by BuzzFeed UK in January if V would appear in the series, both actors offered cryptic responses. Jung-jae remarked, “I can’t say anything about that,” while Ha-joon said simply, “No comment,” only further fuelling speculation.

As anticipation builds, fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of the final season of Squid Game, which drops this Friday on Netflix. Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has already confirmed that the ending will not be “happy,” setting the tone for a tense and emotional conclusion.

If V does appear, it would not only mark his first major acting role but also a landmark crossover between the worlds of global K-pop and Korean drama—one that fans around the world are more than ready for.
