Tom Holland starrer Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has recently faced delay. Fans of the animated Spider-Man franchise have to wait a bit more as Sony has pushed the film by three weeks.
According to Deadline, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will now release in theatres on June 25, 2027. The film was initially scheduled to release on June 4, 2027. The film has been pushed due as the makers need more time after the production faced multiple delays due to the 2023 strikes.
The outlet also shared that the third instalment in the franchise will continue the journey of Miles Morales and his group of multiverse web-slingers.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) left the fans with the nailbiting cliffhanger as Miles found himself in a different universe, where he came face-to-face with a darker version of himself, a version that had become the villain known as the Prowler.
However, the story of the upcoming film will pick up with Miles on the run. However, fans have been eagerly waiting for the film to release and to see how Gwen Stacy and Peter B. Parker try to help him.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, released in 2018, earned an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Along with Across the Spider-Verse, the two films have earned over $1.08 billion worldwide.
Directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is written by David Callaham, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller. The upcoming instalment is produced by Lord and Miller with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh, serving as the co-producers.
However, Sony has also announced another animated film, Buds, which is now scheduled to release on March 12, 2027.
