Barjatya, renowned for his iconic films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and Vivah, is serving as the showrunner for this new series.

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya revealed that the script for his next film with Salman Khan, his frequent collaborator, is still in the works. He clarified that, at the moment, his primary focus is on his web series Bada Naam Karenge.

Barjatya, renowned for his iconic films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and Vivah, is serving as the showrunner for this new series. This project marks the entry of Barjatya's family production house, Rajshri Productions, into the digital streaming space.

Asked about an update on the film with Khan, the filmmaker told PTI, “It will take me some time because I’m still writing it (the script). The focus right now has been on ‘Bada Naam Karenge’. It’s a very big step for us. It’s our first time in OTT. I’m really looking forward to seeing how people react to it."

Sooraj Barjatya, who first collaborated with Salman Khan on his 1989 directorial debut Maine Pyar Kiya, went on to work with the actor in several successful films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Reflecting on his approach to filmmaking, Barjatya described himself as a "selfish director," explaining that he takes his time to craft a script. He mentioned that when he feels truly ready, he immerses himself fully in the process, making it hard for him to stop once he gets started.

In his four collaborations with Salman Khan, Sooraj Barjatya cast the actor in the role of Prem, a character that has since become closely associated with the superstar. Barjatya admitted that he never anticipated the character would gain such iconic status in his films. “This character started off with me and Salman bhai. When we started ‘Maine Pyar kiya’, I used to go to him (when I was) writing a scene.“He would read it and then put his own bit into it. And that’s how this character has come across over the years. But never had we thought it’s going to be something (iconic) that we are going to be talking about,” he added.

"Bada Naam Karenge" centers on Rishabh and Surbhi (played by Ritik Ghanshani and Ayesha Kaduskar), a young couple from Gen-Z who balance their aspirations with traditional family values. Directed by Palash Vasvani, the series is set to stream on Sony LIV starting February 7. The cast also includes Kanwaljeet Singh, Alka Amin, Rajesh Jais, Jameel Khan, Rajesh Tailang, and Anjana Sukhani.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan will be next seen in the much anticipated film Sikandar, set to release on Eid this year.
